Author Rocco Dean joined World of Words – WOW online from Leeds. The children were in fine fettle as they asked a range of questions to Rocco who has had five football books published. The talented wordsmith proved that there are other avenues to take an interest in football – and the young audience listened attentively.

Rocco who has written with his dad and is now compiling another text with his son also displayed that there are different ways of approaching literacy. The key to it all is both persistent reading and writing.

The one thing is for sure is that with Leeds United being at the core of the work of Mr. Dean, he will never ever be short of a topic or two. Let’s hope that a future tale will be staying in the Premier League in 2025/26! Thanks Rocco from us all, you are a generous gentleman giving up your time.

The two WOW sessions that followed worked on our self-penned poem – RCT (Rain Cloud Thunder) which explores our wicked weather. It was then on to an alphabet of scary words with the threads of Halloween still in the memories of our members.

The groups showed immense imaginative skills with their own terms. Well done all!
We also gave out some shells, wordsearches and leaflets about interesting places to visit. To add to which many of our throng had been to watch WOW arranged admission for international football, a pantomime and a Heritage Park tour.
