It was a new school and a fresh challenge for World of Words i.e. www.worldofwords.education as the autumn term led to sessions in Hafod Primary School, Trehafod. It was a rewarding experience for the school.
The skills of World of Words worked wonders during the weekly sessions and the introduction of quality guests such as the authors Jenny Sullivan, Rocco Dean and Maggie Jenkins plus photographer – car/motorbike builder, Tony Smith also enhanced the positive outcomes.
A number of families at the school also attended two Wales football internationals, went to a pantomime, toured the Rhondda Heritage Park, and received free books.
That is quite a lot of good endeavour over 3 months.
For World of Words – WOW it is now 21 schools, two libraries, three community projects, three talks to WI and Guilds, one to one private sessions, adult literacy at a housing association and the Cultural Chapter project which brought a range of citizens out for a guest speaker and a cuppa.
WOW is certainly spreading its wings in the quest of literacy and well-being.
