World of Words i.e. www.worldofwords.educationhas already been the recipient of a Business in Focus ‘Green Goal Award’ for its ambitions to promote and maintain sustainability. WOW leader Rob Jones is an avid litter picker and environmental campaigner – and, across the period April 2022 to April 2023 he collected over 400 bags of waste in the Rhondda area as well as reporting fly-tipping and calls for action to upgrade areas that have been accustomed to the focus of dumping. The positive messages of garbage control, active recycling both via the RCTCBC weekly authority collections plus depositing soft plastics in appropriate bins at stores such as Asda, Aldi, the Co-op and Tesco are also imparted in the work of WOW.
Rob united with the esteemed Rhondda Litter Pickers group for a Tonypandy and Clydach Vale based event on Saturday, May 27. A good turnout witnessed a spirited action and on a scorching summer day an alarming 30 bags of litter were collected across a selection of streets, lanes and paths stretching form the A4119 up to Dan Y Coed and Sunnybank and down and around lower Clydach Vale.
