Cwmclydach Primary offered a warm welcome to a very special guest
To a lovely lady who travelled to us from our nation in the west,
The Children’s Laureate of Wales, who is the very best!
Nicola Davies is a literary legend – passing the ultimate test!
A remarkable writer, a zestful zoologist and a television treat
But here today sharing silky skills upon this old Wern Street,
From Pembrokeshire to the Rhondda – she has driven many miles
In return, Clydach Vale children gave mass applause and smiles!

Today World of Words – WOW at Cwmclydach Primary School introduced Nicola Davies – Children’s Laureate of Wales as well as being a renowned zoologist and an acclaimed television presenter. Nicola drove to and from Pembrokeshire – an incredible effort to which we are extremely grateful.
Our esteemed guest spoke with several classes and she offered a reading and discussion around her brilliant book ‘The Promise’. She then involved the Year 5 and 6 children in a storywriting masterclass – which led to positive interaction between the author and her audience.
Nicola also left books for the use of the youngsters and everyone thoroughly enjoyed an entertaining afternoon.
To take a wild shot at asking Nicola to visit us has paid huge dividends. She has kindly made a long journey and then left a indelible impression on WOW and Cwmclydach Primary. It is thanks in abundance to an illustrious personality. Bless you Nicola!
