What a phenomenal afternoon at Cwmclydach Primary School. World of Words organised for a chat from vet Rhys Thomas of the Treforest Veterinary Clinic, De Winton Street, Tonypandy. Rhys kindly obliged and he also brought along nurse – Jody and his own faithful canine chum – the lovely border terrier, Nessa.
Years 5 and 6 at the school sat in for a stimulating session based around pet care and the youthful audience of mostly animal owners were full of bright questions, interesting facts and positive interaction.
Nessa was well-behaved and those trusty treats aided the event. Rhys offered umpteen significant facts about dog maintenance and the youngsters also displayed a remarkable range of knowledge. The friendly hound was the perfect patient as the pupils had a chance to use a stethoscope and listen to her beating heart while they also learned about grooming and teeth brushing tips among other useful advice.
It is many thanks to Rhys, Jody and of course the incredible Nessa for their entertaining and informative presentation – and it is another coup for the non-profit WOW group
WOW has now introduced sixty different guest speakers to local schools as well as running its own successful school sessions and providing a range of awards and free admission to notable events and venues.
