World of Words – WOW i.e. www.worldofwords.education welcomed Jayne Coleman from Storyville Books in Pontypridd for an afternoon of literacy, learning and laughter at Ton Pentre Junior School. Jayne along with Rob from WOW promoted the values of reading and the benefits of applying oneself to a world of words.
Jayne even brought in a lemon cake which had a recipe taken from an Italian cook book – so the purposes of reading – a mainstay of WOW lessons once again came to the fore.
Jayne freely engaged with the children and as well as talking to the youngsters she welcomed a selection of questions that were prepared by WOW and asked by the year 5 pupils.
Jayne then provided each child with a new book as a selection of literature was given to the students free of charge. There was so much literature offered by Storyville that there were enough books to give to another class as well.
It was a delight to see the children absorb themselves in their gifts and the afternoon became a reading festival with a lot of lively chat about the books kindly given and their respective contents.
All in all a great occasion for everyone involved and yet another credit for WOW who keep on introducing a variety of diverse and interesting guests to its partnership schools.
